IMPOSSIBLY WEIRD

The art of Kevin Mack

24th July – 5th September 2026

Tunnel of Love -Kevin Mack

The Refractive Collective are pleased to present the first public exhibition in our new Project Space at the Liberal Club Building, 32 High Street, Paisley.

Kevin Mack is a contemporary artist and a pioneer of digital art, virtual reality, and visual effects. His work on What Dreams May Come (1998) earned him an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.

Mack’s art work is inspired by nature, emergence, and technology, and informed by research in fields from neuroscience to philosophy. He investigates the principles of perception, imagination, cognition, and intuition. His process combines emergent discovery with intentional control to create visual forms that dissolve the boundaries between photorealism, abstraction, the virtual, and the physical.

Kevin says “I produce large-format prints, digital displays, physical objects, and virtual worlds to emphasise the informational basis of both the virtual and the physical. My intent is to create works that challenge perception, inspire awe, and engage the mind in entertaining existential inquiry.”

We welcome the community into our new project space to explore Kevin’s impossibly weird worlds.

The Exhibition is free to the Public and our opening times are from 11am to 6pm Tuesday  to Saturday.
