[CLOSED] REFRACTIVE OPPORTUNITY: FREELANCE INNOVATION PRODUCER

Refractive is seeking a freelance Innovation Producer with the specific task of building new partnerships and artists exchange programmes to increase the reach of Refractive Film and Digital artists both locally, Nationally, and Internationally.

Structure: 11 months part time freelance flexible basis

Fees: £126 per day x 3 days per week for 11 months. £16632 in fees. Additional finite budget for research and development expenses.

Timescale: March 2024 – January 2025

Location: Based at the Refractive Hub, Storie Street, Paisley.

Deadline for Applications: Midnight on Friday 8th March 2024.

Role Description

To work as part of the Refractive team to deliver the following activities: –

  • The post holder will build strategic relationships with national film and digital arts Network organisations in order to enable artists to meet up, exchange skills and develop partnerships between artists working in this genre across the UK. With the long-term view of collaborative exhibition commissioning and developing tangible skills sharing and working opportunities for Renfrewshire artists in other parts of the UK and Internationally.
  • To develop future pathways that will ensure artists collaborations can happen and in particular develop new collaborative exhibitions for Refractive and the Paisley Film and Media Space as it moves into its new building in 2025. The idea is that we have two-way exchange in developing exhibitions, so that work is presented in at least two UK regions (the two places where the partners live and work).
  • To work in collaboration with the Refractive Trustees and Producers to support and showcase Renfrewshire artists work in other parts of the UK or abroad and bring in collaborating National or International artists and their work to Paisley to support artists exchange.
  • To work within the Refractive marketing structures and with the part time Refractive Promoter to successfully market the collaborations of the Film and Digital sector and its artists to the wider public in Renfrewshire and Nationally.
  • To support and mentor an Intern Producer position engaged to support the Innovation Producer in the processes of building the collaborations for the Film and Digital Art sector.
  • To develop funding applications to National Agencies and funding bodies to follow through on delivering these collaborations. Including preparing funding bids for Go and See exchanges, Skills Exchange programmes and presenting collaborative exhibitions with Partners in other regions of the UK.
  • Develop and deliver monitoring and evaluation procedures for the artists meetings, collaborations, and events, then collate and report on the collected data.
  • To be supported by, take instruction from and report to the Refractive core committee on all project work and professional interactions.

Person Specification:

Education Degree in a related Creative Industries subject and / or related equivalent industry experience of working in film and digital art genres Evidence of continuous professional development.

 

Relevant Experience The Producer should have at least 2 years experience in building successful collaborations between artists and organisations.

The Producer should be able to give examples of successful collaborations they have developed where there was clear benefit for the artists involved.

As a skilled fundraiser the applicant should demonstrate clear examples of successful funding bids for collaborative projects between artists in the UK or wider Europe.

The producer should demonstrate clear experience of facilitating artists meet ups and enabling artists to present their ideas.

Current experience of creating and updating web content, Social Media delivery across Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn etc

Have a wide knowledge of film and Digital arts practice in the UK.

 

 

Special Knowledge and skills A working knowledge of Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Policy for arts organisations and developing ongoing EDI Plans.  Have working knowledge of Fair Work practices.

Have a passion for and a knowledge of contemporary film and Digital Arts and supporting artists.

Have an understanding and commitment to Environmental Creative Projects and their contribution to Climate Adaptation and Mitigation.
Personal Qualities  People focused, able to straddle grass roots and cross sectoral management bodies.

Able to engage and gain trust from Film makers, Artists and Community organisations.

Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships with lots of stakeholders and be an excellent Team player.

Is resilient and highly motivated.

Capacity to work under pressure to meet deadlines and organisational priorities.

Good overall self time management and ability to guide others.

An understanding of the Renfrewshire arts scene/community.

A flexible approach will be required to suit the needs of the work programme, working hours may including some evenings and weekends. A clean Driving licence and use of a car would be beneficial but not essential.
Location The producer should base all core activities to support creative work in the Renfrewshire region – with a strong working knowledge of local issues and work. The producer is based in the Renfrewshire region to minimise core travel and maximise access to core activity.
