Refractive is seeking a freelance Film Exhibition Producer to work on a pilot film screening project in Renfrewshire venues and site specific locations.

 

Structure: 4 months part time freelance flexible basis

Fees: Fee of  £4032 in fees  £126 per day x 16 weeks. Travel and other Expenses paid.

Timescale: January 2024 – end April 2024

Location: Based at the Refractive Hub, Storie Street Paisley and Hybrid.

Role Description

To work as part of the Refractive team to deliver the pilot Refractive film screening programme across venues in Renfrewshire. Refractive aims to present 8 award winning feature films over the Spring 2024  supported by a short film programme from Renfrewshire makers. The programme will also include film makers masterclasses with visiting film makers attending when their film is screening to give Masterclasses and Q&As

  • The Film Exhibition Producer will work with the Refractive Creative Producer/ Film Programmer to support the curation of the Refractive Film Programme and to enable diverse Renfrewshire film makers and digital artists to showcase their short films in local film screening settings alongside feature films.
  • To manage the deliver of the Screening programme including booking the films with distributors and booking film makers for Masterclasses and Q&As.
  • To work in collaboration with the venues and arrange the film projection kit as required for each event, also to arrange all services to the screenings that may be required including managing the ticket booking system from the Refractive website. This would include securing any event licences that may be required.
  • To work in partnership with the projectionist to deliver the Health and Safety of the events, supporting the Projectionist to complete the Risk Assessment for each event and ensuring they have the films they need in advance of each screening.
  • To work within the Refractive marketing structures and with the part time Refractive  Promoter to successfully market the  film screenings to the Film and Digital sector and to the wider public in Renfrewshire.
  • Support the development and delivery of monitoring and evaluation procedures  for the film screening events then collate and report on the collected data.

Person Specification:

Role of:  Film Exhibition Producer, Location: Paisley & wider Renfrewshire

Desirable:
Education Degree in a related Creative Industries subject and / or related equivalent industry experience of  film Evidence of continuous professional development.

 

Relevant Experience The Producer should have at least 2 years experience in film promotion or production, working on Film Festivals or in cinemas.

Current experience of creating and updating web content, Social Media delivery across Instagram, Twitter, Linked In etc

Experience of Film programming in urban and rural settings in Scotland.

 

 

Special Knowledge and skills A working knowledge of Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Policy for arts organisations and developing ongoing EDI Plans.

Have a passion for and a knowledge of contemporary film and Digital Arts

Have an understanding and commitment to Environmental Creative Projects and their contribution to Climate Adaptation and Mitigation.
Personal Qualities  People focused, able to straddle grass roots and cross sectoral management bodies.

Able to engage and gain trust  from Film makers  and Community organisations.

Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships with lots of stakeholders and an excellent Team player.

Is resilient and highly motivated.

Capacity to work under pressure to meet deadlines and organisational priorities

An understanding of the Renfrewshire arts scene/community.

A flexible approach will be required to suit the needs of the work programme, working hours may including some evenings and weekends. A clean Driving licence and use of a car would be beneficial but not essential.
