DESCRIPTION:Artists Meet Ups\nThursday 19th March 2026.  7pm to 9.30pm at the Refractive Hub\, Witherspoon Building\, Storie Street\, Paisley PA12AR.\n\n\n\n\nJoin Kirsty Mackay – Social Documentary Photographer and Eugenia Kamozinova\, Documentary Film Maker as they present their work. \n\n\n\nAbout Kirsty Mackay: \nKirsty Mackay is a photographic artist\, educator\, activist and filmmaker. Her research-led documentary practice highlights social issues surrounding gender\, class and discrimination. Her latest book and exhibition project The Magic Money Tree\, is a collaborate document of the Cost-of-Living crisis. Working alongside and teaching photography to children and young people across the UK. The Magic Money Tree attaches individual’s experiences with the structural\, political\, and economic. It shows us what poverty looks like in the world’s 6th richest economy. As a working-class artist\, Kirsty’s own experiences allow her empathy\, connection and insight into the stories of the people she photographs\, whilst connecting these experiences to the political and economic power structures of the British class system. \n  \nAbout Eugenia Kamozinova: \nEugenia Kamozinova is a film-maker from Slovakia\, she has worked with ITV\, BBC\, and CBBC\, primarily in factual television and documentary filmmaking. Alongside her television work\, she also creates short fiction films\, many of which have been recognized and awarded at international film festivals.\nHer work often involves collaboration with refugees\, immigrants\, people with disabilities\, at-risk youth\, and children – an experience that continues to shape her commitment to socially engaged storytelling. \n  \nThese Meet Up events introduce you to some of the artists associated with Refractive who are producing engaging work.  Kirsty Mackay will also be presenting an Advanced Skills Workshop program on Social Documentary Photography with Refractive in May & June 2026 \n  \nThis is a free event but booking is advisable at Eventbrite here: \nhttps://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/artist-meet-up-tickets-1984386641864?aff=erellivmlt \n\n\nRead less

Directed by the duo\, POWER STATION charts their turbulent journey\, from pitching the idea to their neighbours and sleeping on the roof of their home to raising finance and launching a bid for a Christmas number one single.
