SUMMARY:Documentary Making Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in making a documentary film? Refractive are offering you the opportunity to take part in a series of exploratory workshops with award winning Television and Film Director Kenny Glanaan. The project is designed to give you the tools to make your own documentary. \nOver the next 11 months the workshops will provide a space to explore\, experiment\, and create a short documentary in any style or form you choose. You will learn how to light\, shoot and edit to a professional standard\, while exploring how to structure your film and engage the audience\, using your own voice and experience as a starting point. \nDon’t worry if you have no experience or only some experience\, everyone is welcome.  We will provide a couple of introductory workshops to orientate everyone\, and the prompt to get you started. North Sea\, Nature Untamed is a cinematic adventure and a voyage of discovery that will show the North Sea in all its glory. \nWatch the trailer here! \nPlus Short Film: In the Flame We Reveal Ourselves | Virgina Heath | 2025 | English  \n \nIn The Flame We Reveal Ourselves is a short documentary essay film about climate anxiety\, rendered solely through music and image. The interplay of music (by musical collaborators\, Afterlands)\, and visual storytelling explores our desire to protect the environment while paradoxically allowing its destruction. \nPost Screening Talk with Alastair McIntosh and Renfrewshire Climate Action Network\n\nAfter the film\, there will be a talk by Alastair McIntosh\, hosted by Renfrewshire Climate Action Hub.\n\nAlastair McIntosh is a campaigner for social and environmental justice\, best known for his work on land reform and spirituality. Originally from Lewis\, his upbringing in the coastal community has deeply shaped his life and work\, he has contributed to various campaigns for coastal and maritime restoration. His books include Soil and Soul\, Poacher’s Pilgrimage and on climate change\, both Hell and High Water and Riders on the Storm.
